Juventus’ Massimiliano Allegri has reacted to the VAR call to disallow Arkadiusz Milik’s late winner against Salernitana in the Serie A on September 11, 2022.

At the post-match press conference, the manager emphasized that VAR may not have spotted Antonio Candreva and kept Leonardo Bonucci onside and nobody saw the incident.

The match was so chaotic that Milik and Juan Cuadrado were shown the red card, Allegri was not spared as he was also sent off in the match. Federico Fazio also received a red card.

Ten yellow cards were given by the central referee, Matteo Marcenaro. In addition, 10 minutes of extra time were added. The two team players clash on the sidelines during the VAR check.

Salernitana put up a rough battle with the Old Lady at Allianz Stadium on Sunday, as Antonio Candreva found the back of the net in the 18th minute of the first half to give the visitors a 1-0 lead.

Allegri’s side strived for an equalizer but their struggle to break down Salernitana’s defense before the end of the first half failed as Dusan Vlahovic’s goal for Juventus in the 39th minute was ruled out for offside.

Thereafter, about three minutes into stoppage time of the first half, Nicola’s side was handed a penalty and Juventus defender Bremer received a yellow card and Krzysztof Piatek sent the ball past Mattia Perin to give Salernitana a two-goal lead just before the end of the first half.

Gleison Bremer made up for his error after receiving a brilliant assist from Filip Kostic to give Juventus the hope for an equalizer and scored to make the scoreline 2-1 in the 51st minute into the second half.

The Old Lady dominated Salernitana, pushing harder to break the visitors’ defense to equalize and, perhaps score more goals to claim the whole three points but Vlahovic, Arkadiusz Milik, and Juan Cuadrado all wasted a chance each in their struggle to find an equalizer.

Juventus also earned themselves a penalty after Tonny Vilhena’s rough challenge inside the box.

Leonardo Bonucci stepped up to take the shot but he sent it straight to Luigi Pepe who pushed the ball out before Bonucci quickly snatched it and fired the rebound into the roof of the net to make it 2-2.

“I want to go to eat because it’s late, I don’t want to know anything,” irritated Massimiliano Allegri told DAZN after the chaotic 2-2 draw.

“Was it a very bad performance? No, you say so, you see games, but you don’t watch them. The opening 20 minutes were very good. Then we conceded this goal from a wrong interpretation of Cuadrado.”

“I never talk to referees after games, a goal was disallowed and it’s a fact,” the Italian tactician continued.

“The only thing is that I’d like to watch the video again. Antonio Candreva is close to the corner and we haven’t seen that video, what if he keeps everyone onside? We don’t have that video, nobody has it, so I don’t know.

“However, referees must be left alone, the protagonists are the footballers. We have 10-15 good referees in Italy.”

Was it a good performance for Juventus?

Allegri seems to be out of ideas, and Juventus have played more draws than wins this season. They have been vulnerable at the back and have hardly survived matches.

The Old Lady are not even in the top 4 of Serie A and it is a major concern for the fans and board. They lack the urge to win matches and team spirit.
