Leicester City coach Brendan Rodgers has delivered his opinion on the club’s out-of-form performance since the start of the 2022/2023 season. The former Celtic Boss has admitted that he would not leave the Foxes and that he would not bow to pressure.

Despite a rocky start to the season, Brendan Rodgers has stressed that he has no plans to step down as manager of Leicester City and that the club still supports him.

The Foxes’ 2022–23 season gets off to a terrible start, as after six rounds, they are currently in the relegation zone.

After five straight defeats, the Foxes are currently last in the Premier League, yet under pressure, Rodgers is adamant about his intention to see it through.

The only point Rodgers’ team has earned thus far came against Brentford on opening day, and they are currently on a five-match losing streak in the league.

The pressure on Rodgers rose after a 5-2 defeat to Brighton the previous weekend, but he refused to say whether he had given his job a second thought.

In addition to being “extremely supportive,” the club, according to the Northern Irishman, was realistic about the situation going into Saturday’s home game against Aston Villa.

When asked if he had given thought to stay at the club, Rodgers replied that he hadn’t.

“I am not stupid, I understand football, and it has not been a fantastic start at all,” the 49-year-old Rodgers said.

“However, the support demonstrates the quality of the work we have accomplished here and the appreciation of the struggles we have faced this summer.

“There is no doubt that I must enhance the results, but I have only received assistance in doing so.”

After taking over at King Power Stadium in February 2019, Rodgers guided the Foxes to the Europa Conference League semifinals in 2021-2022 season and FA Cup triumph in 2020-2021 season.

But during the summer transfer window, he lost star defender Wesley Fofana to Chelsea and received just two recruits for his team: goalkeeper Alex Smithies and center-back Wout Faes.

Despite the challenges, Rodgers is certain he can change the situation.

“I enjoy being here, and my track record is solid in terms of what we’ve accomplished and how well performances have gone”, he said.

“But it hasn’t reached the required level. Resilience has been the foundation of my profession, which is essential in our field. This is how I got to where I am.

“Although it is difficult when you are not seeing results, the strength is relatively easy to obtain and serves as a motivator.”

Leicester will travel to Tottenham Hotspur after Villa’s visit on Saturday before welcoming Nottingham Forest to the King Power stadium.
