Antonio Conte has dropped another set of valuable two-point as David Moyes’ West Ham holds Tottenham to a 1-1 draw at the West London Stadium on Wednesday, August 31, 2022.

Tottenham

West Ham XI: Fabianski, Zouma, Coufal, Kehrer, Cresswell, Rice, Bowen, Fornals, Benrahma, Soucek, Antonio

Spurs XI: Lloris, Sánchez, Davies, Dier, Bissouma, Perisic, Højbjerg, Emerson Royal, Son, Kane, Kulusevski

Antonio Conte took his triumphant Tottenham squad to the West London stadium as he sought to build on his recent success. After the 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge on Premier League matchday 2, Conte has been flying high with the winning squad. Unfortunately, David Moye’s West Ham succeeded in testing the depths of the Lilywhites.

The first half kicked off in some sort of a dramatic and dull ball play. Gaffes by both sides in the midfield were evident, making the game less of a classic encounter.

A few minutes into the match, the momentum and tempo started to return. Tottenham looked deadlier on the attack when in the opponent’s halfway line.

Spurs took a slight dominance of the game as it progressed. They secured a penalty in the 12th minute, but the VAR ruled it out.

A frantic tempo was recorded by the visitors afterward. They were beginning to control and be on the ascendancy over their opponents, but the two sides created no clear-cut chance as the first half nears an end with half an hour played.

The deadlock was broken in the 34th minute; Kulusevski had tactically brought out Zouman from his position. Kane made a clever run into the box.

A pullback by the England international found son, but before the South Korean ace neared the ball, Kehrer had already nodded into his net. Spurs went into the lead with a one-goal advantage.

The game progressed with Tottenham still in control of the ball despite taking the lead. West Ham did little to contest Tottenham’s superior possession as the first half finally ended.

Antonio Conte went onto the break taking the lead and hoping that the scoreline remained that way.

The second half began with Tottenham still in control but creating little, or no chances as the host effectively curtailed their progression into the box.

In the 54th minute, West Ham found an equalizer out of nothing. It was a throwing from Coufa to Anthony. He flicks it, and Soucek rushed in to finish it with great precision.

Bolstered by the goal from Soucek, West Ham began to put on a spirited performance, but their rule was quickly short-lived as Tottenham resumed their dominance.

Over an hour into the game, Tottenham dominated the game but had no clear-cut chance to make it count. The game continued to drag on.

Spurs increased their attacking pace and speed in the game’s final minutes. They needed to grab all three points, but David Moyes’s team was equally a force to reckoned with.

West Ham retreated into their half as the visitors pushed for a winner. In the 80th minute, the Lilywhites considerably decreased their attacking flair after failed attempts and vulnerable back line after counterattacks.

The match finally ended with both teams sharing the spoils as David Moyes grabbed a vital point against dominant visitors.

What next for Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United?

Tottenham Hotspur will be in action on Saturday, September 3, 2022, when Fulham visit Tottenham Hotspur stadium from 15:00. While West Ham United have a date with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on the same day and time.
