Wesley Fofana will likely still be a player of Leicester City in the coming month, according to the club’s coach, Brendan Rodgers.

Chelsea made two proposals for Fofana, but Leicester City rejected the offers, and no new offer has been made in the past few days.

In a media interview on Thursday, August 18, Rodgers reaffirmed that the French defender is not up for sale.

The notion is that he is a Leicester City player, he remarked, adding that he doesn’t think too far in advance.

“He is not for sale; the club has made that clear; he will remain here unless something changes”, the coach said.

“At this time, nothing has changed or been added since our last conversation.”

Although Leicester can hardly afford to lose Fofana, the team has conceded a league-high six goals in its first two games, “so it’s up to us to assess how much we want or need him and take appropriate action”, Rodgers added.

However, even by Chelsea’s owner, Todd Boehly’s standards, £80 million or more is an absurd number, so his move to Chelsea is not certain yet.

Fofana had four interceptions in Saturday’s 4-2 loss to Arsenal and was also shown a yellow card.

In two games, Fofana has made nine interceptions. But in the transfer game, he is up against Leicester City that are not ready to let him go cheaply.

Fofana and his teammates are having defensive difficulties as of late, having already given up six goals. If Alex Smithies takes over in goal, they will hope that this will change.

In his first season with the club, Fofana made 38 appearances after moving from Saint-Etienne to Leicester in 2020.

He broke his leg in an exhibition game against Villarreal in August of the previous year, delaying his first game until March.

He did, however, start the Foxes’ 2-2 draw with Brentford in their opening match of the current season.

For Fofana, Rodgers thinks it would be best if he remains with the team for at least another year.

Since then, the player has been forced into the starting lineup, established himself as one of our generation’s most promising defenders, ended the careers of attackers, and become an essential part of Brendan Rodgers’ plans for the King Power team.

This season, no other defender has become one of the greatest as quickly as this one. The 20-year-old has contributed towards making the Foxes regular top-four hopefuls and Champions League candidates.

Wesley Fofana, a midfielder, has played a total of 180 minutes in 2 Premier League games so far this year.

Every 90 minutes that Wesley Fofana is on the field, the player averages 0 assists.

Wesley Fofana is ranked eighth among the Leicester City team’s top scorers with a total of 1 goal and an assist since he joined the Premier League club on October 2, 2020.
