Manchester United’s captain, Harry Maguire, was booed by fans whenever he touched the ball during the club’s pre-season clash against Crystal Palace.
Unfortunately for the player, the boos came from most of the fans wearing the United jerseys.
This happened in Melbourne, Australia during their third preseason match against fellow English side Crystal Palace, which saw the Red Devils cruise to a comfortable 3:1 victory over the Eagles.
This comes after what seems to be a disappointing season from the point of view of the fans.
Previously, England supporters booed the England national in a friendly against Ivory Coast.
There have been several speculations about whether he will continue to captain the Red Devils this season, and the new United manager, Erik Ten Hag, has commented on those speculations.
“I will support him everywhere I can”, the coach said. “In the end, he has to do it by himself, and he has the qualities to do it. He has shown it so often in the past.
“Harry Maguire is the captain. He’s an established captain, he’s achieved a lot of success, so I don’t doubt this issue.
“Harry is really impressive and I expect a lot from him. I always see the captaincy as an issue that I dictate. Team building is an important point for me, and I always talk about a group of leaders. The captain is a really important one, and I’m happy with him.”
While fellow teammate Donny Van de Beek said: “I heard as well, but didn’t know really what happened. Today he was playing really well-was aggressive and got so many balls. That means he has a big personality. He has a lot of experience. That’s positive, his performance today. “
