The Dutchman has vowed to bring back the attacking style of play that helped Old Trafford greats like Sir Matt Busby and Sir Alex Ferguson achieve such success, and he has already made it clear what he expects of his players. According to The Sun, Ten Hag spoke with his players on Monday and intends to change the club’s philosophy by giving his team tight rules and guidelines.

Some of the rules given by the Dutchman are:

  • Young players will replace senior players if they impress in training.
  • Players must improve their fitness and remove ‘unacceptable’ body language.
  • He will not tolerate sideways and backwards passing, and, in training, will substitute players that don’t pass forwards.

The action was taken because senior players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes were the base upon which previous manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s managerial ability was formed. Marcus Rashford and Jason Sancho also lost their spots in the England international team as a result of their failure to support interim manager Ralf Rangnick’s strategy.

However, ten Hag has been using World Cup slots as an incentive for players to get back in shape.

Even though several international players are not scheduled to return until Monday up to 15 players are already back for training.

Those engaged found the former Ajax manager’s strategies and attention to detail in his meetings to be very impressive. It is alleged that the group’s fast-paced playing style has encouraged players to pay attention with the ultimate goal of wearing down defenses.

Additionally, it is believed that Ten Hag and his assistant manager Steve McClaren have been motivating in the workouts despite the current lack of quality.

Ten Hag won’t be scared to use some of the younger players in place of some of the more experienced ones if the bad quality persists. However, Cristiano Ronaldo will be back on Monday after shocking the team by asking them to let him go.

The 5 times Ballon d’Or winner has not been happy with the condition and performance of the club since joining 7 months ago and has requested to leave if a good offer comes. But the club has revealed that he’s not for sale and still has a year left in his contract with Manchester United.
