The 18-year-old Scottish right-back joined Liverpool from Aberdeen on a $5 million deal. After sealing his deal with the Premier League club, Ramsey disclosed that he hopes to get to the same level as Alexander Arnold.

He also added that he’s looking forward to learning from Trent Alexander-Arnold whom he will play as a backup to. The former Aberdeen star believes that his style of play is similar to Arnold’s and he can’t wait to show Liverpool fans what he’s capable of.

Trent Alexander Arnold has been a fundamental player in the Jurgen Klopp squad since he joined the squad from the club’s academy.

He’s currently the most valuable right back in the world and is known for his accurate crosses from the right flank.

Jurgen Klopp helped Alexander Arnold to become one of the best right-backs and Calvin Ramsay believes that playing for Liverpool will help his performance.

“He’s a massive player, he’s been brilliant so far”, Ramsay told the club’s official website. “I watched him the whole of last season and just the way he plays, I think it’s almost similar to me [in] the way he attacks and stuff like that, we’re both still young.

“He’s an unreal player. So to be coming in here and learning off him, it’s just going to be amazing for me and I’m going to learn a lot. It’s going to be tough, it’s going to be a challenge but it’s one that I’m up for and hopefully, I can go and challenge to get into the starting XI.”

Ramsay won the Football Writers’ Young Player of the Year in Scotland in the 2021/22 season and has often called Alexander-Arnold one of the players who inspires him. “Obviously he’s young and he’s just been brilliant – everyone in football knows that,” Ramsay added.

“Because I’m in a similar position and there was a bit of interest from Liverpool at the time. Even before there was interest from Liverpool, I looked up to him because he’s similar to the way that I play, like I said – his attacking, his crossing, he can use both feet, his passing range is obviously quite similar to mine.

“Just being in here every day with not just him, but all the players, they’re top professionals and I’m going to learn a lot and become a better player.”

Liverpool has already had a busy transfer window with the signings of Ramsay, playmaker Fabio Carvalho, and Uruguayan striker Darwin Nunez.
