English Premier League club Leeds United are close to agreeing on a deal with German champions Bayern Munich for the signature of their midfielder Marc Roca.
Multiple sources have revealed that the midfielder will have his medical on Friday. The deal is expected to be completed in the coming days.
Leeds United are working hard this summer to improve their squad ahead of the 2022/23 Premier League season which is about to start in August. The club survived relegation last season after a final day drama.
Their head coach, Jesse Marsch believes that Marc Roca is one of the players to help strengthen the midfield area.
Note that Leeds United and Bayern Munich have been working towards a contract agreement since June and its at the final stage.
The English Premier League club is expected to pay around £12 million-plus add-ons for Marc Roca. Roca would be in England today, June 17, to have a medical and Leeds United are confident that the contract agreement will be signed afterward.
The signing of Marc Roca would make him the third player to join Leeds United this summer, following Brenden Aaronson and Rasmus Kristensen, who joined them from Red Bull Salzburg.
Roca is said to be one of the players to replace Kalvin Philips in midfield. Philips has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester City. The Blues are pushing hard to secure the services of Kalvin Philips.
Although other Premier League clubs like Chelsea, Tottenham, Manchester United, Aston Villa, and West Ham United are interested in the English man, Man City are confident that he would join them in a deal that could cost around £50 million.
Manchester City’s coach sees Kalvin Philips as the best replacement for Fernandinho in the midfield. Fernandinho won’t be with the champions for next season after his contract expired last season.
Another Leeds United player, Raphinha could also leave the team during the summer transfer window. Raphinha is currently wanted by many clubs across Europe and has a price tag close to £50 million.
The departure of these players means some of the players who helped them to avoid relegation last season won’t be with the team in the coming season.
Recall that Leeds United got promoted into the Premier League in 2021 and had a good start. However, the team’s performance dropped drastically as the season progressed which forced them into a relegation battle.
