Current English Premier League champions Man City have reached out to Brighton to sign their defender Marc Cucurella and Leeds for their midfielder Kalvin Philips.
The Blues are hoping to complete the deals for both players before the start of pre-season games.
Manchester City are still working on their squad to get it ready before next season which will start on Friday 5th August.
City recently announced the signing of two strikers Erling Haaland and Argentinian star Julian Alvarez. But bringing in Marc Cucurella and Kalvin Philips would help to strengthen their midfield and defense area.
Cucurella would be a good addition to the left-back position for Manchester City. Zinchenko who plays at the same position for City has revealed that he’s open to leaving the club if any team promises to play him as a midfielder.
In line with that, Arsenal have shown interest in signing the Ukrainian player but no bid has been submitted at the time of publishing this report.
The departure of Man City’s central midfielder and captain Fernandinho is why the Blues are looking for a player to fill the position.
However, other English Premier League clubs like Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, West Ham United, Manchester United, Chelsea, Newcastle United, and Aston Villa are all interested in signing Kalvin Philips but Man City is likely to be his next destination. The Englishman could leave Leeds if Man City makes a bid of £50 million.
Kalvin Philips has been an important player for Leeds and also his country England. He was among the players who helped Leeds to escape relegation from the Premier League during the 2021/22 campaign.
City are also ready to land Marc Cucurella at a deal worth around £50 million too. Cucurella joined Brighton for £15 million last summer from Getafe, where he excelled not only as a left back but also as a central defender.
With Guardiola willing to let Nathan Ake and potentially Oleksandr Zinchenko leave this summer, he is seen as the ideal defender to cover the left side of City’s defense.
The good news is that Manchester City have other choices, according to several reports, but are working hard to get Phillips and Cucurella to the Etihad this summer.
The Premier League champions will start their title defense on Sunday 7th August at West Ham United. The likes of Gabriel Jesus, Raheem Sterling, Bernardo Silva, Zinchenko, and Mahrez could leave the team during the summer transfer window. At the same time, Manchester City are preparing to extend the contract of most of their players before the coming season commences.
