Chelsea’s first-choice goalkeeper, Edouard Mendy, has taken to his Instagram page to show pictures of him and DJ Snake after the DJ hosted a concert in the city of Paris.
It was the first concert that was hosted in Parc des Princes in 10 years. Mendy who was in attendance had an opportunity to meet DJ Snake for a quick shot.
Who is DJ Snake?
DJ Snake, born William Sami Étienne Grigahcine on June 13, 1986, is a French DJ and record producer based in Paris. DJ Snake is a Grammy-nominated producer and musician who made his worldwide debut in 2013 with the tracks “Bird Machine” and “Turn Down for What.” Alesia, a fellow French musician, collaborated on “Bird Machine.”
DJ Snake confirmed that he was working on a collaboration with Diplo in 2014, with the tune “Lean On” being released in 2015 in cooperation with M and Diplo’s Major Lazer, as well as former Pussycat Doll Melody Thornton.
DJ Snake was born in Paris to Algerian parents and grew up in Ermont, a ghetto-like banlieue region outside of Paris. Early influences include a sequence with Cut Killer in the French film La Haine, as well as hip-hop groups KRS-One and Cypress Hill.
DJ Snake revealed on his social media sites in late August 2018 that he would be releasing a new single later that year. He announced the song would be called “Taki Taki” and would include Selena Gomez, Cardi B, and Ozuna the following month. The song was released on September 28th, 2018.
The career of Edouard Mendy at Chelsea
In September 2020, Chelsea signed Mendy to a five-year contract at a rumored sum of £22 million. On September 29, Mendy made his Chelsea debut in the fourth round of the EFL Cup against Tottenham Hotspur, in which Chelsea lost 5–4 on penalties following a 1–1 draw.
The Senegalese goalkeeper finished second in the Yashin Award to Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, who saved two penalties in the Euro 2020 final.
Mendy, on the other hand, was named FIFA’s Best Goalkeeper. He went on to win the 2021 Nations Cup with Senegal and the 2021 FIFA Club World Cup with Chelsea. The 2020-2021 season was considered his best season so far.
Why the Parc des Princes Concert was Important to DJ Snake
DJ Snake, a fanatical supporter of Paris Saint-Germain, lit the garden of his boyhood club in front of over 60,000 spectators on Saturday.
That earned him the record of being the first artist to perform at Parc des Princes for the first time in over ten years.
Two years after electrifying Paris’ Defense Arena, the world’s most popular French Disk Jockey underlined his popularity in the city by repeating “Here it is Paris!” (the motto of Paris supporters) on the stage of Parc Des Princes.
“I’ve been going to this stadium to support my soccer club since I was a kid, and I’m meeting tonight for a solo show at my house, in this city, it’s a fantastic thing,” the DJ said.
