Luis Suarez believes that an on-field reunion with former Barcelona teammate Lionel Messi is possible at Inter Miami. Suarez is a free agent this summer and is yet to decide where he will play next season. Meanwhile, Messi is under contract with Paris Saint-Germain until 2023, with a one-year extension option.

“Can you imagine Messi in Miami in a few years? Hopefully. We’ve been good together on and off the pitch,” Suarez said on Cadena Ser’s “El Larguero” show.

“There’s nothing like seeing two colleagues happy outside for them to perform well inside.”

Suarez also discussed the circumstances surrounding his departure from Atletico Madrid, claiming that he was only recently informed that he would not be allowed to stay at the club despite his desire to do so.

“Yes, I would have preferred [to stay for 2022–23]”, he said. “The day before my farewell, Rafa Alique (Atletico’s director of communication) told me that they were going to give me a farewell.

“I didn’t have a clue. I’m 35 years old and have been considering my options. We met with the club in December, agreed to meet in February, and Alique informed me that they were planning to bid me farewell, to which I replied, “Well, at least someone from the club tells me something. He, too, was said to be surprised.”

Suarez has been heavily linked to the MLS in the United States, but the star has stated that while he would consider all offers, he is considering staying in Europe.

“No, it hasn’t entered my mind yet”, Suarez noted. “My thoughts are in Europe. Spain? I’m very proud of the career I’ve had here. I have received some proposals from here, but I’m still analyzing them. I’d like to see the project come to fruition so that we can compete at a high level.”

Messi, 34, is Paris Saint-Germain’s top-notch player, having joined the club in August 2021. He signed a two-year contract with an option for a third year, and he helped the club win their 10th Ligue 1 title. Messi has scored six goals in 25 appearances for Paris Saint-Germain so far.
