The 2022 FIFA World Cup tournament is over, and it was filled with surprising moments, and the best got to lift the tournament. Although there are players who failed to impress the fans, below are the worst eleven in the competition.

    GK: Hennessey (Wales)

The goalkeeper couldn’t help his team survive the group stage as his various mistakes helped Iran defeat the Wales side by two goals to nil. He was rated badly by various sports pundits, and many believed he didn’t have a future with the Wales side.

He was the first goalkeeper to be sent off in the tournament.

    RB: Matty Cash (Poland)

Cash was poor defensively during the World Cup and his inability to track back when the other side is on the counterattack was a big blow to his team. Cash, who was tasked with the duty of getting hold of Kylian Mbappe in the Round of 16 of the World Cup, failed to do so.

Also, in terms of contributing to the attack, Cash failed to get a single assist in the tournament as a right back; he was easily dispossessed, and a lot of teams targeted the right back of the Poland team.

    CB: Hossein Kanaani (Iran)

The center back put on a horrible performance against England, where the English players had a free time scoring excellent goals. The defender also failed to stop Christian Pulisic of the USA from sending them out of the World Cup group stage.

    CB: Boualem Khoukhi (Qatar)

The defender completed all three matches in the World Cup for the host country, Qatar. The defender made a single tackle when the Netherlands defeated the team by 2-0.

He was directly responsible for Senegal’s opening goal and was rated 3/10 in the match.

    LB: Yannick Carrasco (Belgium)

Against Canada, the left back could not keep up with the Canadians and struggled to contain them. Against Croatia, he was very clumsy at the back and couldn’t deal with the long passes of the Croatian.

    MD: Skov Olsen (Denmark)

He was sloppy with his passes and made little progress with the ball. The Danes could not beat any player in a one-on-one situation and hardly delivered the ball into the box.

    DM: Krystian Bielik (Poland)

The manager has failed to trust his football ability. Although he was a nice player, he was performing exceptionally well in the Championship before the commencement of the World Cup.

    MD: Piotr Zielinski (Poland)

He struggled to create chances against France and also failed to support the attackers. He got dispossessed countless times in the midfield and made the team vulnerable at the back due to misplaced passes. The Napoli midfielder was extremely poor against Mexico and was given a rating of 5.

    MD: Krépin Diatta (Senegal)

The winger was brought in because of Sadio Mane’s injury but failed to live up to expectations. Against England, he was quickly substituted after making silly mistakes. He also failed to put pressure on the defense.

    CF: Gareth Bale (Wales)

The striker scored just one goal in the tournament and missed a couple of chances to help the team win. Bale was poor at making final decisions and prevented the Wales team from getting vital points.

Against Iran, the striker went missing when the team needed him to score goals.

CF: Anthony Contreras (Costa Rica): He came in against Germany and failed to display good character as a striker. He played like a low-division league striker.

Costa Rica was beaten 7-0 by Spain in the opening match of the tournament and also didn’t score any goals in the tournament.
