Ukrainian club, FC Zorya Luhansk shocked Premier League club, Leicester City with a 1-0 defeat on Thursday night to delay Leicester’s qualifier to the next round of the Europa League campaign.

Leicester City visited Ukraine with the attention of picking up the maximum three points to scale through to the next round, but their expectation was caught short in the 84th minute of the match when Zorya’s Allahyar Sayyadmanesh scored the only goal of the match.

Even though Leicester City had the company of Ricardo Pereira, Caglar Soyuncu, and Wilfred Ndidi, they could not equalize the late goal, hence, they had to return to England without a point. Unfortunately for the club’s coach Brendan Rodgers, he might have to be without Soyuncu for a couple of matches again as the Turkish defender limps off after 16 minutes with a recurrence of a groin injury.

After tonight’s defeat in the hands of the Ukrainian club, Leicester City is still occupying the first spot of Europa League Group G with 10 points after 3 wins, one draw, and one defeat. Leicester and second-placed Braga have the same points but the Premier League club tops with superior goals difference.

Leicester City’s last Europa League group match for this season is against 4th placed AEK Athens. The match is scheduled to take place at Kings Power Stadium on December 10 at 21:00. A win or a draw is enough to see them scale through to the next round of the competition.

On the other hand, Tottenham Hotspur have qualified for the Europa League round of 32 after drawing 3-3 with LASK on Thursday. In the match, Dele Alli staged a return to the scoreboard by scoring a penalty in the 86th minute. Gareth Bale and Heung-Min Son were also on the scoreboard.

In the first half, Tottenham Hotspur struggled to get into the match as they went behind once before they picked up the pace in the second half. Jose Mourinho and his boys almost ran away with the full three points until in the additional 3 minutes of the second half when LASK’s Karamoko scored the last goal of the match to force out a 3-3 draw.

As it stands, Tottenham Hotspur are sitting second in Europa League group J behind Antwerp with 10 points which are enough for them to scale through to the next round of the competition. Their last Europa League match is against Antwerp on December 10 at 21:00.
