Zlatan Ibrahimovic played Paris Saint Germain, the current Ligue 1 winners, from 2012 to 2016, winning four straight league championships before leaving for Manchester United.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic wasn’t afraid to criticize the French top division and the stars who are now competing in it. He claimed that the league has lost its intrigue and entertainment value.

He made some bold claims about France and Ligue 1 while ignoring the presence of Messi, Neymar, and Mbappe.

The 41-year-old told Canal+ that despite the league has some of the top players in football, “everything is going down in the league since his departure.”

He said, “Since I left France, everything has changed; there is no longer anything to talk about in France.”

“I don’t need France; France needs me. If you don’t have God, it doesn’t matter if you have Mbappe, Neymar, or Messi.”

Due to the stellar play of Lionel Messi, Neymar, and Kylian Mbappe this season as they prepare for a crucial World Cup, many believe this might be the season the Paris club will win their first Champions League trophy under Christophe Galtier.

However, Ibrahimovic is not impressed despite witnessing these star-studded front three perform at a very high level each week and claims French football is missing him.

The Swedish great has a reputation for being self-assured throughout his career and frequently refers to himself as “God” as he has found some measure of success wherever he has played.

He has excelled in France, where he scored 149 goals in 165 games for Les Parisiens, as well as in Italy, Spain, and England. He is presently winding down his career with Milan and is now out due to an injury sustained last season after tearing his ACL.

After the injury, he was asked about retiring, he said he would keep playing until he is healthy, noting that he played for six months without an ACL.

“Six months of knee swelling. In the previous six months, I was only able to train with the team 10 times,” he claimed.

“I took over 20 injections in six months. for six months, the knee was emptied once each week.

“I took daily painkillers for six months. For six months, I hardly ever slept because of the discomfort. never experienced such pain on and off the field.

“I’ll be back shortly. I won’t give up; I’m not going to retire and I’m coming back.”

Before having surgery that endangered his career, Ibrahimovic helped Milan win the Serie A last season by playing despite the agony.

After agreeing to a new contract with Milan last summer, he is anticipated to play again in January.
