Zlatan Ibrahimovic has no intention to hang up his boots yet, in spite of being Serie A’s oldest goal machine at the age of 41.

Ibrahimovic’s contract with AC Milan expires at the end of the campaign, and his chances of featuring in their last game of the campaign against Verona is bleak.

The former Barcelona forward sustained a muscle injury in April and has since been out of action.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has played only four matches this campaign, and that has added to speculations of his retirement from the round leather game.

However, the 41-year-old has expressed that he has no intentions to leave the scene.

The Sweden International told the Stile supplement of La Gazzetta dello Sport: “I’m not one to give up. But there must also be joy in what you do, I can’t help but have peace in what I can do as number 1, playing football.

“But we’re not there yet. I think I still have something to give. If I think about quitting? I don’t think so. If I have to continue playing? I think so.”

10th placed Monza have held discussions with Zlatan Ibrahimovic over securing the services of the ex-Manchester United man.

But he has been battling with a knee problem sustained in the previous campaign.

The controversial figure was also questioned about his fitness and he responded: “I’m fine, I’m fine. I’ve worked a lot, I’ve forced a lot, not only this year also last year. But when I was knocked out, the team needed me.

“And when you’ve done one thing all your life, when you know what you have to do but you can’t do it, then you continue.”

He added: “I won’t give myself peace. I haven’t found the balance. When everything comes, everything comes immediately. This thought is spinning in my head.

“My head is too strong, I feel like Superman every time I come back, but I have to have balance.”

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has scored 37 goals in 78 appearances during his second stint at AC Milan.

The former La Galaxy star assisted the side to win the Italian Serie A title in the 2022/23 season and he was instrumental to that course, providing a reasonable amount of goals alongside impressive leadership qualities which galvanized the side.

Zlatan has had an excellent career in football, winning trophies, scoring goals and showing quality across every league he went to.

“Ibra” who seemingly has a brash persona has played 866 matches and scored 511 goals across all the clubs he represented.

For Sweden, Zlatan Ibrahimovic has made 122 appearances and scored 62 goals in the process.

He has a long list of honors for club and country, however, one honor that has eluded him is the prestigious UEFA Champions League title.

Maybe one last dance at the Champions League might be on the cards for him although there hasn’t been a concrete bid from any side competing in the competition yet
