Zinedine Zidane has reportedly decided on his preferred destination to resume managerial duties.
It is understood the former Real Madrid manager is set to return to the dugout and has been linked to Europe’s top clubs.
Bayern Munich led the list of clubs interested in Zidane. According to Mundo Deportivo, the Bavarians had opened talks for Zidane after a blow in their pursuit of Germany national team manager Julian Nagelsmann and Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso.
We reported earlier Julian Nagelsmann has extended his contract with the Germany national team, penning a new two-year contract till the 2026 World Cup.
Xabi Alonso drowned rumors of a possible switch to Allianz Arena when he decided to continue with Bayer Leverkusen beyond this season.
With Nagelsmann and Alonso out of the picture, Zinedine Zidane emerged as a likely successor for soon-to-leave Thomas Tuchel at Allianz Arena with reports a deal was close.
Now, according to new reports, Zidane’s possible move to Bayern Munich have been dealt a big blow due to two factors – the language barrier and his dislike of the City of Bavaria where the club is based.
Sources close to the three-time Champions League winner revealed he prefers moving to Manchester United with a simpler language form and a friendly city.
Zidane’s interest in the Manchester United job could provide the impetus for the subsequent sack of Erik ten Hag, who has been struggling with inconsistent run of results.
According to GFFN, Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is equally interested in having Zidane as Man United manager should he choose to part ways with Erik ten Hag at the end of the season.
