Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder, Yves Bissouma was arrested at seafront nightclub earlier in the week for alleged sexual assault.
The 25-year-old Malian midfielder was arrested at the nightclub in the early hours of Wednesday morning, October 6, 2021, alongside a man in his 40s.
Yves Bissouma and the man who has not been named visited the nightclub which was reportedly packed with students.
In the night Yves Bissouma and his friend stormed the nightclub, the club was said to be hosting a weekly promo night, a delight for students schooling around the city where the nightclub is located.
When the students and other people at the nightclub saw Bissouma, they were starstruck because the 25-year-old has been one of the best players at Brighton so far this season.
The footballer who arrived at the club like a superstar was taken away like a common thief in police handcuffs. His friend who is said to be a co-offender was also arrested.
An insider told The Sun that: “The club was packed — it was a popular student night, especially with freshers in town.
“People were starstruck to see Bissouma in the club — he’s Brighton’s best player at the moment, so he caught some eyes.
“They were even more shocked to see him later being led away in handcuffs outside the club.”
At that point, it was not clear what his offense was. It was later confirmed that both the footballer and the man in his 40s were involved in a sexual assault.
Yves Bissouma and his friend spent a day at the police custody where the police quizzed them over the alleged sexual assault.
At the time of publishing this report, Brighton & Hove Albion nor Bissouma was yet to make a public reaction concerning the arrest and the alleged sexual assault.

Yves Bissouma: from most wanted in the Premier League to alleged sex offender
Yves Bissouma has been in an incredible form since the 2021-2022 season started. Due to his performance so far for Brighton, he is regarded as one of the best footballers at the club.
His form has attracted the interest of Liverpool, Manchester United, and Arsenal. Yves Bissouma was expected to leave Brighton for one of the big clubs in the Premier League in the January transfer window.
If the alleged sexual assault scandal is anything to go by, it might affect the chances of the 25-year-old Mali international to move to a big club in the coming winter transfer window.
Bissouma who currently earns £45,000 a week at Brighton still has two seasons left on his contract with the Premier League club.
So far this season, he has played 5 Premier League games for Brighton in which he provided an assist. His effort has helped the club to move as far as the 6th spot on the league table with 14 points in 7 games.
In a recent interview with BBC, Yves Bissouma was asked to name the best midfielder in the Premier League, the 25-year-old center midfielder declared himself the best.
He said: “I don’t want to be arrogant, but it’s me because in my head I am working to be the best. So I cannot say another name.
“I know in the Premier League there are so many good midfielders, but for me, it’s me because that gives me the confidence and the energy to work hard to show people I am here and I am Bissouma.”
As it stands, Bissouma would not only spend the coming days fighting to be recognized as the best midfielder in the Premier League, he would be occupied by the sexual scandal he has found himself in.
