Young footballer who played for AFC Portchester, Mason Peddle, has died unexpectedly leaving his family and club in a state of grief.
Mason was a player of AFC Portchester under-23 team and he was the captain of the side. Condolence messages have already begun pouring in for the young player, who has been termed as a “top guy”.
AFC Portchester put out a simple tribute with two hearts and a picture of Mason Peddle that said: “Our Captain”.
In a separate post the club wrote: “Everyone at AFC Portchester is shocked and saddened to hear the news of the passing of Mason Peddle, captain of our under-23s side.
“Our thoughts and condolences go out to his family and friends at this difficult time. The club will be doing all it can to support his family.”
Other football teams swiftly sent their condolences too on the death of the footballer.
Baffins Milton Rovers FC posted: “Everyone connected with the club is deeply saddened to hear this devastating news.
“Our thoughts are with Mason’s family, friends and everyone connected with AFC Portchester at this sad time.
“Rest in peace, Mason.”
Another team, Meon Milton Mens tribute went as thus: “Everyone at Meon Milton FC sends their condolences. Our thoughts are with the family and friends.
“Such a top guy he will deeply missed by all.”
Fareham Town FC also tweeted: “RIP from all at Fareham Town 😢”
The late footballer’s club, AFC Portchester, are a team based in Portchester which is a suburb of the town of Fareham, Hampshire in England.
They are presently members of the Wessex League Premier Division and they play their home games at the Wicor Recreation Ground.
The club was founded in 1971 and they are managed by Dave Carter. The team’s chairman is Paul Kelly and their nicknames are Portchy, Royals.
AFC Portchester lifted the Wessex league Cup in the 2014/15 season and they were champions of the Hampshire League Division One in 2001/02.
The club also opened a gofundme account for anyone who would want to offer support to Mason Peddle’s family after the sad occurrence.

Via a tweet put out on Monday, the club made it know that an incredible £14,460 has already been raised in donations.
The club tweeted: “Please give your support to Mason Peddle’s family – an incredible £14,460 has already been raised in donations.”
Their last match at the Wicor Recreation Ground ended in a defeat as they lost by 1 – 2 against Horndean.
