Former FC Barcelona midfielder, Yaya Toure has made himself available to save the Spanish club which is currently battling for survival on many fronts.

The 38-year-old retired footballer took to his Twitter page to share a series of tweets stating that he is available for FC Barcelona whenever they need him.

Yaya Toure played for FC Barcelona between 2007 and 2010. During that period, he scored 4 goals in 74 games before he left the club for Manchester City.

Before he left FC Barcelona, Toure helped Barcelona to win seven major titles including two La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey, one Supercopa de España, one UEFA Champions League, one UEFA Super Cup, and one FIFA Club World Cup.

During his era and beyond, FC Barcelona was the team to beat. The club was consistently winning major titles and beating other strong teams with ease.

But from the 2018-2019 season, the Spanish giants have been struggling to be as consistent as they used to be. Things began to get worse in the 2020-2021 season when Bayern Munich humiliated Barcelona out of the UEFA Champions League with an 8-2 defeat.

In the 2021-2022 season, things completely fell apart for FC Barcelona after the exit of Lionel Messi to Paris Saint Germain ahead of the season.

So far this season, Barcelona have recorded two defeats in the Champions League. They have been recording inconsistent results in La Liga which has forced them to the 9th spot on the league table.

Their last defeat came at the hands of Atletico Madrid last weekend. The 2-0 defeat prompted Yaya Toure to make himself available to help the team. He however did not reveal how he intends to help the Spanish side.

It may be a difficult time for the club but my belief for @FCBarcelona is strong”, Yaya Toure tweeted. “I will always be available for the club should they need me anytime as my heart is forever with the club, the people, and the fans!

“My time at @FCBarcelona was one of the best memories of my playing career. The club has decided to trust me when I was still a young player, yet to establish myself in the top leagues. I will forever be grateful to the club for what they have done for me.”

Yaya Toure retired from professional football in 2020 after he terminated his contract with Chinese club Qingdao Huanghai. He is currently an assistant coach of Russian club Akhmat Grozny and is doing his UEFA coaching badges.

It is not clear whether Toure intends to replace coach Ronald Koeman who is seen as one of the reasons FC Barcelona are struggling this season.

Though the president of Barcelona, Joan Laporta, has publicly declared that he is not planning to sack the Dutch tactician, most fans of the club want Koeman out of the club.
