Wrexham To Replace Injured Striker Paul Mullin

English Football League Two side Wrexham are already preparing a replacement for Paul Mullin after he picked a knock against Manchester United.

The 28-year-old suffered a ruptured lung in Wrexham’s 3-1 victory over Manchester United at the Snapdragon Stadium, San Diego in California.

Paul Mullin was hospitalised after a collision with Manchester United goalkeeper Nathan Bishop in the 19th minute of the encounter.

It is uncertain how lengthy he would be out of action, but reports indicate that Wrexham are already lining up potential replacements for the Englishman.

According to reports, the Red Dragons are eyeing Barnsley forward James Norwood as a possible acquisition.

Norwood’s deal with Barnsley will expire in 2024, after the English side activated a one-year extension in the striker’s contract.

The 32-year-old joined the Tykes on the 16th of July, 2022 from Ipswich and he has scored 11 goals and provided 4 assists in 49 appearances for the club.

The striker has also previously played in League Two during his time at Tranmere Rovers and he will be bringing immeasurable experience to Wrexham.

He made 180 appearances for Tranmere Rovers, scoring 90 goals and providing 28 assists across all competitions.

With Tranmere Rovers, he scored 29 goals and provided 2 assists in 45 League Two appearances.

Wrexham will commence their 2023/24 League Two campaign on the 5th of August, 2023 with an home game against MK Dons.

However, Phil Parkinson’s side might be without their instrumental forward whose goal assisted them to gain promotion to League Two.

Paul Mullin made 46 appearances, scoring 38 goals and providing 3 assists in the National League last term.

Following the collision with Nathan Bishop, Mullin was immediately forced off due to the injury he had sustained.

Despite the former Cambridge United forward providing an update from the treatment room, it is uncertain how long he will be out of action.

Short-term defender Jonny Evans also featured for 74 minutes before he was substituted for Willy Kambwala.

Elliot Lee took Wrexham into the lead in the 29th minute before Aaron Hayden doubled their advantage.

Sam Dalby, who replaced Ollie Palmer in the 46th minute, scored the last goal for the Red Dragons while Marc Jurado scored the consolation goal for Manchester United.

Wrexham were annihilated by Chelsea 5-0 in their first preseason encounter but their response against Manchester United can give manager Paul Parkinson something to be proud of.

They will be looking to gain promotion to League one in their first season in the division.

It won’t come easy for Wrexham as they have other top teams to contend with, including; Stockport County, Forest Green and Accrington Stanley amongst others.
