Thomas Tuchel will miss Bayern Munich’s Champions League match against Manchester United on September 18, 2023 due to a touchline ban.

He was sent off during Bayern’s final Champions League match of last season, a 1-1 draw against Manchester City in April, after laying into the referee following a coming together by Kingsley Coman and Aymeric Laporte.

Tuchel was shown a red card and was subsequently suspended for one match by UEFA. This means that he will not be able to be on the touchline for Bayern’s first match of the 2023-24 Champions League group stage against Manchester United.

While Thomas Tuchel will not be able to give instructions to his players from the touchline, he will still be able to communicate with them before and after the match, as well as during half-time. He will also be able to watch the match from a box in the stadium.

In Tuchel’s absence, his assistant coach Anthony Barry is expected to take charge of the team on the touchline.

It will be a rollercoaster as the two European giants go head-to-head at Allianz Arena. Bayern Munich will head into the game on a better standing than Manchester United.

The Bavarians are undefeated in their Bundesliga start this season while Manchester United are struggling to find their footing and are also battling with a piling list of injured players.
