Jadon Sancho might not be available for the England football national team for the three FIFA World Cup European qualifying matches scheduled for March 2021.
The 20-year-old English right-winger sustained an injury while playing for Borussia Dortmund on March 2, 2021. In the German Cup between Dortmund and Borussia Monchengladbach which ended 1-0 in favor of Dortmund, the England international had to be substituted in the 68th minute due to a knock he received in the match.
Afterward, Jadon Sancho who scored the only goal in the German Cup match, could not be fit enough to face Bayern Munich in a German Bundesliga match played on March 6. Unfortunately for Dortmund, Bayern Munich defeated them 4-2 without their right-winger.
The latest reports from Germany say Jadon Sancho’s injury could keep the player out of football for the rest of this month. And he might return to the game in April, all things being equal.
Based on this, the 20-year-old right-winger who started his football career with the Manchester City youth team, will not be available for Three Lions coach, Gareth Southgate to select during the March FIFA international break.
This means that the youngster who has been enjoying tremendous time under coach Southgate since he made his national team debut in 2018, might not play against San Marino on March 25.
Besides that, Jadon Sancho might not be available for England’s World Cup qualifying match against Albania on March 28. He might also be absent in the match against Poland on March 31st.
The last time Jadon Sancho played for England was on November 18, 2020; he featured partially in England’s 4-0 win over Iceland in a United Nations League match.
Since Sancho made his debut for England senior team, he has played 18 times in which he scored 3 goals. While at Dortmund which he joined on August 31, 2017, the England international has scored 46 goals and provided 60 assists in a total of 130 appearances.
So far this season, the England international has scored 6 goals and provided 11 assists in 21 Bundesliga games. He has made 31 appearances in all competitions for Dortmund this season in which he has provided 16 assists and scored 12 goals.
His form over the years has attracted the attention of some top clubs in Europe to seek his signature. He almost joined Manchester United last season but the Premier League club was not able to agree on a transfer fee with Dortmund.
Sancho who might miss Dortmund’s second leg match of UEFA Champions League round of 16 against Sevilla on March 9, still has two years left on his contract with the German club.
