AC Milan began the 2023/24 Serie A season impressively, recording a victory over Bologna, however, there was something distinct that blew everyone away.

The Rossoneri opted to spend the entirety of the interval on the touchline at the Stadio Dall’Ara, due to its cooler state than the dressing room.

AC Milan picked up a 2-0 win over Bologna in their opening game of the 2023/24 season, courtesy of goals from Olivier Giroud and Christian Pulisic.

Thiago Motta’s side couldn’t overturn the two-goal advantage which the Rossoneri had over them going into the break and they slumped to a defeat.

Bologna headed straight for the tunnel after the referee signaled for the end of play in the first half, while Stefano Pioli and his players stayed on the bench and touchline.

Why did AC Milan players and Stefan Pioli remain on the pitch during victory over Bologna?

Pioli dished out his half-time team talks in the open due to some specific factors that border on comfortability and temperature.

The decision to remain on the pitch was made by Stefano Pioli and his staff due to the air conditioning at the Stadio Dall’Ara not being sufficient enough to deal with the scorching heat of the evening.

AC Milan are aiming for the Serie A title this season, having made massive reinforcements this summer.

They have signed several notable players, namely; Yunus Musah, Samuel Chukwueze, Noah Okafor, Tijjani Reijnders, Christian Pulisic, Luka Romero, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, and Marco Sportiello.

Meanwhile, due to the current temperature in Italy, all the matches in the opening two rounds of the 2023/24 Serie A season were slated to take place in the evening.

Italy is currently experiencing excruciating hotness, and it is expected that the weather should return to normalcy soon.

The move taken by AC Milan isn’t a familiar one, however, they also didn’t go against the rules of football.

Napoli wrestled the Serie A title off the Rossoneri last season, but despite administrative shake-ups, Stefano Pioli’s side are still confident of a great season ahead.

AC Milan fired club legend Paolo Maldini on June 6, 2023, due to a divergence in thoughts and plans.

Maldini, who was acting as Milan’s technical director was dismissed alongside director of football, Ricky Massara, following a meeting with owner Gerry Cardinale.

Stefano Pioli’s side entertain Torino on Saturday, August 26, 2023, at the San Siro, as they look to make it two wins out of two in the 2023/24 Serie A season.

They will be competing on all fronts this season; domestically and continentally, and they will be aiming to win at least one major silverware.

AC Milan are also still in the market trying to make more reinforcements which could help their course towards achieving success in the 2023/24 season.

The Red and Blacks are edging closer to signing defender Marco Pellegrino from  Argentine club Platense.

They are also interested in signing Weder Bremen’s 30-year-old forward, Niclas Fullkrug, who finished as the joint top-scorer in the German Bundesliga last season.
