Real Madrid is reportedly set to make a £58.5million bid for Napoli midfielder Fabian Ruiz this summer. The Spaniard has become a key player for the Serie A side this season. The 23-year-old has made 31 appearances in all competitions which includes him playing the full 90 minutes in there 1-1 draw against Barcelona in the Champions League on Tuesday.
Real Madrid is said to be looking to add firepower in the center midfield and is ready to splash £58.8m (€70m) for the Spanish international. Real boss, Zinedine Zidane has had his eyes on Ruiz for a while and believes the midfielder will help to freshen up his midfield options.
With long-term trio Casemiro, Toni Kroos and Luka Modric having been challenged by Uruguayan youngster Fede Valverde this season, Ruiz could possible add more of a playmaker option. Real are most interested in the left-footed midfielder due to his versatile play being that Ruiz can play in a number of different midfield roles comfortably. His vision, close control, and finishing touch also can’t be overlooked and would provide options in the center for the La Liga giants.
So far, the Spaniard has found the back of the net three times in 31 games in all competition this season. Ruiz hasn’t missed a minute of Champions League football as Napoli believes their keyman will help them progress to the knockout stages. After the stalemate at the San Paolo against Barca, the return leg will be on March 18 at the Camp Nou.
Meanwhile, Madrid suffered a shocking defeat to Manchester City at the Santiago Bernabéu. Manchester City beat Real Madrid 2-1 during their first leg of the Champions League clash on Wednesday. Spain international and Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos was given a late red card. The Real Madrid Captain was seen giving Jesus a nudge in the edge of the box after the Brazilian sprinted towards the goal in the 86th minute. A free-kick was awarded to the English side while the Real Madrid captain was sent off.
After a terrible defeat, Real Madrid hopes to look beyond as their El Clasico clash against Barcelona comes up on Sunday at the Bernabeu. With just two points separating the two La Liga giants in the La Liga title race, Real Madrid will have to pull it together quickly if they want to finish the season on top.
