England manager Gareth Southgate is reportedly on the  top of the list as a  leading contender to take over as Manchester United Boss. It is reported that Southgate may take over after Euro 2020, that is, if results don’t go Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s way.

It is believed that United’s hierarchy want to give Solskjaer the benefit of the doubt and believe that with time, he can reform the club and put things into gear. As Solskjaer tries to turn around the club’s fortunes,  it is expected  he will be given at least one more summer transfer window to bring in the players he needs.

It’s wide knowledge that United have invested heavily in the Solskjaer project and want the popular Norwegian to turn things around. Only problem is, senior sources have also quoted the “Kenny Dalglish scenario,” as an example. During this era Liverpool fired the greatest legend in the club’s history back in 2012 to pave the way for Brendan Rodgers who then paved the way for now Reds Boss, Jurgen Klopp.

All eyes are now set On Solskjaer, who nevertheless, is under intense scrutiny ahead of Sunday’s FA Cup clash away to Tranmere Rovers. With having overseen only two wins from United’s last seven games in all competitions a sack in the summer might be underway if results don’t improve and fast. Southgate is now being considered  as a leading contender to take over after England’s Euro 2020 adventure.

A new report claims that United’s executive chairman Ed Woodward has been impressed by Southgate’s work with England since the 49-year-old took charge of the national team back in 2016. Woodward has been keeping a close eye on Southgate and is reportedly to have said he would be a good add on for the Club. Woodward believes Southgate’s tactics is what helped England finish in the top 4 at the World Cup stage.

Frustrated United fans have had enough and are allegedly planning a mass walkout during the Premier League clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers on February 1 . The protest is  against Woodward and the club’s owners, the Gpazers family. In recent days, some fans attacked Woodward’s personnel home by firing flares. United,  fans are said to be protesting in the wake of losing to Burnley at Old Trafford last Wednesday. United will face an FA Cup fourth-round tie at Tranmere on Sunday, where fans will be on edge to see if things have turned around. United will then meet Manchester City in the Carabao Cup semi-final on Wednesday trailing 3-1 from the first leg.

Mauricio Pochettino who was once linked to be the man for the job should Solskjaer be relieved of his duties.  But according to new reports, Southgate is also high in United’s thinking and is seen as the ideal manager to continue the club’s policy of developing young talent.

The Red Devils are currently fifth in the Premier League table with 34 points. United have lost their last two matches, including an embarrassing  2-0 home defeat to Burnley on Wednesday night.

Solskjaer will travel with his United side to Prenton Park for Sunday’s FA Cup fourth-round clash against Tranmere. It is expected that he will come out victorious and things start turning around in his favor and could go some way towards extending his spell as manager.
