PSG has told Thiago Silva that he won’t get a new deal. This means that he eight years relationship between the Brazilian comes to an end in two months, and he is now a free agent.

Silva joined the French Ligue 1 giant in 2012 from AC Milan and has made over 300 appearances across all competition.

L’Equipe reported that the 35-year-old was told by his fellow countryman, Leonardo, who is the club’s sporting director, that his time at the club is coming to an end.

The development has come with speculation that Silva might be returning to AC Milan, his first European club, where he had a good relationship with the management before leaving for the French capital.

Thiago Silva to AC Milan or Everton?

Due to the excellent relationship he also had with former AC Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti, he has also been linked with a reunion with him in the Premier League at Everton. They also worked together during Ancelotti’s short stint at PSG.

In an interview in 2013, where he spoke of his fondness for the Italian tactician, Silva said Ancelotti stands out from all the managers he has played under. He was part of Milan’s Scudetto winning side in the 2010-11 season but left with Zlatan Ibrahimovic for PSG a year later after a two-year relationship with the San Siro club.

He pointed out that he found it hard to settle down in Europe after leaving Brazil for AC Milan, where he didn’t play for six months but stressed the importance of those six months, which he said changed his life.

The Ligue 1 champions are still in the Champions League, which means Silva will still participate in before departing.

The newspaper further reports that Silva’s decision to leave PSG was because he was not willing to take a pay cut in the proposed contract.

Silva had expressed the feeling that he can’t continue playing until he is 40.
