A London derby involving two teams with different ambitions for the rest of the Premier League season sees Arsenal visit West Ham United at the London Stadium. 

It is expected to be an encounter that should provide an intense battle and a competitive showing as these two teams know what is at stake as the end of the season draws nearer. 

Arsenal have the Premier League title in sight and they are aiming to win the top-flight league trophy in England for the first time in 19 years.

For West Ham United, they are looking at getting to a comfortable position that would help cement their place in the English Premier League for next season. 

The home side tutored by David Moyes are coming into this game off the back of a 1-1 draw with Gent in the first leg of their Europa Conference League quarter-final, while Arsenal drew 2-2 with Liverpool last Sunday.

West Ham United last action in the Premier League saw them defeat Fulham by a slim margin at the Craven Cottage courtesy of an own goal by Harrison Reed. 

Just three points separate West Ham United 18th placed Nottingham Forest as the season progresses and they would be trying to do everything within their power to at least get to the 40 points mark that customarily guarantees safety in the Premier League.

Arsenal are 6 points ahead of Manchester City

Mike Arteta’s side are six points ahead of Manchester City on the Premier League table but the Cityzens have a game outstanding.

City are in advantageous position for the league title this campaign bearing in mind how they have fared in the last set of matches in previous seasons. 

Arsenal would have kept their focus on the league leaving no stone unturned if they are still eyeing to win the league title, remember they also have a game against Pep Guardiola’s side in the league.

The last meeting between the two sides ended 3-1 in favor of Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium last December.

Both sides have met 24 times in total, Arsenal have come out victorious in 19 while West Ham have won twice with both sides sharing the spoils on three occasions.

Team News for West Ham United 

Majority of David Moyes players look fit and available except Gianluca Scamacca who is nursing a knee injury and he is set to miss the Arsenal game. 

Lucas Fabianski is expected to be in goal against the Gunners replacing Alfonso Areola in goal. Thomas Soucek, Kurt Zouma, Michail Antonio and Lucas Paqueta who were unavailable against Fulham would be available against their North London visitors. 

Team News for Arsenal 

Arsenal are still trying everything possible to get William Saliba back in action as he is still recovering from a back injury. 

Rob Holding is expected to start in his stead, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Mohammed Elneny are still in the treatment room.

Eddie Nketiah is back and in contention to start on Sunday after fighting off an ankle worry.

Looking at getting back into winning ways after dropping points against Liverpool last weekend, Mikel Arteta’s side should be able to pick up a victory at the London Stadium.
