An offer of £90 million sent in by Arsenal for England International Declan Rice has been rejected by West Ham United.

The Gunners second bid for Rice is understood to be worth £75 million guaranteed payment with an additional £15 million performance based add-ons.

It was initially thought that Arsenal would table an offer worth at least £90 million in addition to other incentives, which will take their offer close to the £100 million price tag requested by West Ham United.

However, the North London side’s recent offer has failed to reach the £100 million benchmark.

The offer has subsequently been rejected and Arsenal will have to send in another bid if they are to secure the services of Declan Rice.

Declan Rice is the priority target of Arsenal

The Gunners have made Rice their priority target and have already witnessed an initial bid of £80 million rejected.

Manchester United and Manchester City are also interested in getting the signature of the 24-year-old.

The Englishman sets out for a lengthy summer holiday this summer after a grueling season with West Ham United.

Being the captain of West Ham United, he played a leading role in the team’s activities last season.

Declan Rice played in 50 out of West United’s 61 matches last season and he became the third captain of the Hammers to win a trophy with the club.

The 24-year-old followed the path of Bobby Moore, who won the Cup Winners Cup in 1965.

After Bobby Moore captained the Hammers to the 1965 triumph, Billy Bonds also guided West Ham United to the FA Cup title in 1975 and 1980.

Reaching a formal agreement on his personal terms wouldn’t be an issue for Arsenal and the Englishman. But his club would definitely have to reach an agreement with Arsenal, before that can come into place.

West Ham United are looking to recoup over £100 million from the sale of Rice

The Hammers want to activate an auction for Declan Rice as they look to earn over £100 million from the sale of the England International.

The 24-year-old was handed the captaincy role at the club replacing Mark Noble before the commencement of the season.

He has spent the entirety of his professional football career with West Ham United.

Since his debut in July 2016, Declan Rice has made 245 appearances and scored 15 goals for the east London side.

David Sullivan, the Chairman of West Ham United confirmed in June that Rice would be exiting the club this summer.

David Moyes’ had also frequently drummed it into the ears of Hammers faithfuls during the 2022/23 season that they may not enjoy the services of their captain next season.

Arsenal were reported to have made bids for Ecuador international Moises Caicedo in the January transfer window.

They couldn’t acquire Caicedo and the Gunners ended up signing Jorginho from Chelsea.

Mikel Arteta is still keen on bolstering his midfield ahead of next season but it appears Arsenal would have to meet the demands of West Ham United if they are really interested in signing Declan Rice.

If the Gunners accede to the requested fee demanded by West Ham, they would be breaking their record transfer fee of £72 million paid to Lille for Nicolas Pepe in 2019.
