West Ham United have beaten Juventus to the signing of Jean-Clair Todibo from OGC Nice, according to reports.
Juventus were previously said to be leading the race to acquire Todibo, however, they had struggled to reach an agreement with Nice.
Jean-Clair Todibo To West Ham United
Reports did indicate that Jean-Clair Todibo was previously keen on joining Juventus, but West Ham United moved fast to hijack the deal.
The Hammers have agreed to an initial season-long loan deal for Todibo that includes a €40m option to buy in 2025.
According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, a sell-on clause has also been inserted in the deal.
His medical is expected to be done on Friday, August 9, 2024, with the transfer to be subsequently made official.
Manchester United wanted to sign Jean-Clair Todibo earlier this summer but were blocked from doing so by UEFA.
This is due to Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s involvement with Nice, as it contravened their associated party transaction rules.
Todibo made 33 appearances for OGC Nice in the 2023/24 season, scoring no goal and providing 3 assists in all competitions.
West Ham United have been busy this summer, as they are making needed reinforcements ahead of the 2024/25 season.
Recall David Moyes exited the Hammers at the end of the 2023/24 season, with Spanish tactician Julen Lopetegui coming in to replace him.
West Ham United are making needed additions to their set-up to aid Lopetegui, as they aspire to achieve relative success in the coming season.
The London-based club have already signed 6 players this summer; Max Kilman, Crysencio Summerville, Niclas Füllkrug, Luis Guilherme, Guido Rodríguez, and Wes Foderingham.
Jean-Clair Todibo is expected to be the latest addition to the Hammers setup this summer, with fans hoping that he will bolster the side in defense in the 2024/25 season.
