West Ham United have agreed deals with Manchester United and Southampton for the transfer of Harry Maguire and James Ward Prowse respectively.

These deals are reportedly worth about £60 million cumulatively and they are expected to be completed in the next few days.

It is believed that each player will be joining the Hammers for an amount within the region of £30 million.

Harry Maguire made 31 Premier League appearances last season, scoring no goal and providing no assist.

However, his role at Manchester United has reduced drastically, having lost his place in the starting 11.

The 30-year-old has also been stripped of the captaincy role at Old Trafford and some have termed these moves to be a signal for exit.

Maguire is also reportedly ready to call it a day at the English club and he has been assured of first-team football at West Ham United.

Moyes is keen on signing Harry Maguire

David Moyes is keen on signing this Englishman as he sees him as a valuable addition to his backline.

Harry Maguire joined Manchester United from Leicester City in August 2019 for a world record £80 million fee for a defender.

His time at Old Trafford has been filled with turbulence as many Red Devil faithfuls feel he is surplus to requirements.

Since he joined Manchester United in 2019, Maguire has gone on to make 175 appearances for the club, scoring 7 goals and providing 5 assists in all competitions.

The 30-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at central defense, as he is now seemingly the fifth-choice center-back at the Manchester-based club.

Additionally, the defender has been booed many times by Manchester United fans, alongside facing death threats due to his performances.

Recently, he was also shouted at by Cameroonian Andre Onana during a preseason game against Borussia Dortmund.

Despite his poor display at Manchester United, he has still kept his starting spot with the national team of England.

Fair to him, Harry Maguire is a different preposition anytime he is representing Gareth Southgate’s side.

The former Wigan Athletic defender will remember his time at Manchester United for the Carabao Cup triumph which he lifted as captain in February 2023.

West Ham United Agree Deal With Southampton For The Transfer Of James Ward Prowse

It was looking improbable that James Ward Prowse would exit Southampton, however, it is close to being a reality.

The Hammers are looking to improve their squad after selling former captain Declan Rice to Arsenal for a fee of £105 million.

They have also sold striker Gianluca Scamacca to Atalanta for a fee of £21.5 million.

West Ham United now have enough money to flex their muscles in the market and one of the potential signings in their list is James Ward Prowse.

Southampton set to lose inspirational captain James Ward Prowse

Ward Prowse has spent all his professional career at Southampton but that is on the verge of changing due to David Moyes’ side interest in his services.

The free-kick expert has made 410 appearances for Southampton, scoring 55 goals and providing 54 assists across all competitions.

James Ward Prowse featured in Southampton’s opening game of the Championship on Friday, August 4, 2023.

However, the 28-year-old didn’t play any part in the Saints’ 3-1 loss to Gillingham on Tuesday, August 8, 2023.

West Ham haven’t made any signings this summer but they would be relishing the prospect of welcoming Harry Maguire and James Ward Prowse in the coming days.

David Moyes’ side are also edging closer to signing Ajax’s midfielder Edson Alvarez to fill in the void left in midfield by Declan Rice.

The Hammers are also reportedly interested in signing Manchester United academy graduate Scott Mctominay.
