Manchester United’s all-time highest goal scorer, Wayne Rooney, surprised a fan named Ochirvaani, who cycled from his country, Mongolia, to England.
A clip was posted on the Manchester United Instagram page showing how Ochirvaani met Wayne Rooney. The Mongolian was discussing with an unidentified man after he was invited to Old Trafford for a tour.
The unidentified man asked Ochirvaani, does he remember Wayne Rooney’s overhead kick against Manchester City? Ochirvaani turned back to see the legend coming towards him. The Mongolian was in shock to see Rooney.
Before he was invited for a tour at Old Trafford, the cyclist wrote a letter to Manchester United saying, “I’m currently cycling from my home in Mongolia to Old Trafford because I love Manchester United.”
“Wayne Rooney has always been my hero. I loved his relentless work ethic, versatility, and ability to rise to the occasion in crucial moments. He was always an inspiration.”
“When I was younger, all I ever wanted to do was be a professional footballer and play for Manchester United; however, I experienced a difficult situation.”
The cyclist revealed he was swindled by a group of fraudsters with the intention of achieving his longtime dreams of becoming a football star.
He said, “I lost a significant amount of money after being deceived by someone posing as a football agent. I felt like I was living a nightmare.”
To make the Cyclist tour to Old Trafford more memorable, he was invited by the club to watch a match between Arsenal and Manchester United, which ended in a defeat for the Red Devils.
In addition, he had the opportunity to meet legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson and the current club captain in the director box.
How Ochirvaani Traveled From Mongolia to England
He left his hometown to watch Manchester United play against Coventry City in the semi-finals of the FA Cup.
He started his journey in May 5, 2023, after being denied a visa three times by the British Embassy. The visa was later approved with the support of the Mongolian government.
His journey to England was nearly 7,000 kilometers. He woke up around 7:00 a.m. every morning and made sure he cycles for 100km per day.
The Mongolian traveled through 16 countries before he finally got to England after 11 months to watch his favorite team, Manchester United, play against Coventry City in the FA Cup semi finals
He revealed the difficulties he faced during his journey to England. He was met with cold, heavy rainfall and consistent snow.
His journey went viral on social media, with many saying incredible things about the cyclist. A social media user said, “What an incredible feat and inspiration.”
