How Wayne Rooney Reacted to the Horrible Loss Plymouth Argyle Suffered Against Sheffield Wednesday

Plymouth Argyle’s manager Wayne Rooney told the BBC Radio Devon how he felt about his team’s horrible loss.

The former Birmingham City manager said, “I’m disappointed, angry, and surprised. I think everything we’ve seen from the players throughout pre-season today was a surprise to me.”

“We knew it was important to try and get through the first 20 minutes and then try and get some composure and some calmness to the game, and we didn’t manage to do that. I think the basics of the game today were not good enough, and for me, that’s not acceptable.”

“Whether that’s getting to the ball, tackling, being aggressive, or staying with runners, we knew Sheffield Wednesday were one of the best teams in the league last season at crosses and cutbacks.”

“Also, it was four goals from crosses and cutbacks, which we worked a lot on throughout the week, so I’m really disappointed.”

What Next for Plymouth Argyle?

The Plymouth Argyle team will play against Cheltenham on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at 7:45 p.m. for the first round of the Carabao Cup.

Wayne Rooney needs to start coaching a team capable of causing upsets and winning by a big margin.

Rooney needs to start winning matches in order to avoid an early sack in the 2024–25 Championship season.
