Watford football club have sacked their coach, Xisco Munoz less than a week to their league game against Liverpool.

The 41-year-old Spanish coach became the coach of the club over 10 months ago and helped them to gain automatic promotion back to the Premier League ahead of the 2021-2022 season.

Since the beginning of this season, Xisco Munoz has led Watford to record 4 defeats, a draw, and two wins which earned the club 7 points in 7 games. Watford are currently sitting on the 14th spot, 4 points away from the relegation zone.

Xisco Munoz’s last game in charge of Watford was against Leeds United on Saturday, October 2, 2021. The game ended 1-0 in favor of Leeds United and made Munoz the first coach to get a sack letter.

At the time of publishing this report, Watford were yet to announce the coach that would replace Xisco Munoz ahead of their game against Liverpool next weekend.

A statement from Watford read: “The board feels recent performances strongly indicate a negative trend at a time when team cohesion should be visibly improving.

“The Hornets will always be grateful to Xisco for the part he played in securing last season’s promotion and wish him well for his future football career.

“No further club comment will be available until the imminent announcement of a new head coach.”

Now that Watford have opened the door to other Premier League clubs that might want to get rid of their coaches for new ones, it will be interesting to see the next club that will take the bold step.

A coach whose football fans are expecting to get a sack letter anytime soon is Ole Gunnar Solskjaer of Manchester United. Some fans of the club believe that the club has given the Norwegian tactician enough players (including Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho) but he has failed to use them effectively.

Another coach that football fans are expecting to get sack anytime soon is Daniel Farke of Norwich City. The 44-year-old German coach is yet to help Norwich City to record any win this season.

Newcastle United coach Steve Bruce does not look safe based on the performance of his team so far. The 60-year-old English tactician is yet to help Newcastle United to win any game this season.

Bruce is on the same page with Sean Dyche of Burnley and Ralph Hasenhuttl of Southampton who are yet to record a win for their clubs this season.

All the same, some of the aforementioned clubs might be tempted to finish the season with their current coaches. On the other hand, more ambitious clubs sitting above the bottom 10 could decide to sack their coaches before the season ends.
