It was a clash of titans as the two Laliga heavyweights went head-to-head at Camp Nou.

Atletico Madrid went into the game in top shape with 13 unbeaten Laliga run. The last time they tasted a Laliga defeat was against the same opponent.

They suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to the LaLiga leaders in front of their home fans at the Civitas Metropolitan Stadium in Madrid back in January.

Ousmane Dembele’s 22nd-minute goal was enough to hand the Catalans a deserved win against the hard-fighting Diego Simeone’s side.

Traveling to Catalonia for the reverse fixure, the LaLiga indomitables were expected to harvest a pound of flesh against the Blaugrana.

Barcelona went into the game winless in their last three matches, including a heavy home defeat to arch rivals Real Madrid in Copa Del Rey semifinal second leg.

They drew the following two Laliga games against Girona and Getafe hence Atletico Madrid went into the game heads-high with a favorable odd to win.

A dragging first half saw both side nearly ended the break with a barren draw save Ferran Torres’ 44th-minute strike.

The goal separated the two teams and was enough to help Barcelona complete a Laliga double over the visitors.

The Barcelona Vs Atletico Madrid Laliga clash was not just a clash of Spain’s football giants but a midfield battle between Thomas Lemar, 27 and Sergio Busquets, 34.

Busquets complained to the referee before heading off the pitch to change the shorts

The French midfield sensation, known for his versatility, great passing and dribbling skills, wrestled with Spain’s best midfield woodwork, Sergio Busquets.

In one of their duels during the game, Thomas Lemar could be seen taking a tight and dragging grasp of Sergio Busquets’ shorts in retaliation of Busquets bizarre grab of his shirt.

Lemar held it in such a way that the short was ripped apart. Sergio Busquets had to complain to the referee before he headed off the pitch to meet the kitman and change the shorts.

It was such a hilarious scene which made some fans think Sergio Busquets’ short got torn because Barcelona’s shirts are made of cheap materials.

Thomas Lemar was not penalised by the referee after the challenge. He is a top midfider but was overshadowed by Busquets in the game.

The French star managed a match rating of 2.8 against Busquets’ 3.9 as Barcelona grabbed all three points to reclaim their 11 points lead on top of the table.

Thomas Lemar joined Atletico Madrid in 2018 from French side Monaco. He has scored 8 goals in 125 appearances but has struggled this season with just one goal in 27 appearances.

He is a priority midfielder for Diego Simeone and had reportedly agreed to a 50% pay cut to renew his contract and stay at the club until 2027.
