United Kingdom Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has called Tottenham striker Harry Kane to congratulate him after he broke Wayne Rooney’s all-time record as England’s highest goal scorer against Italy in the Euro 2024 qualifiers.
The prolific striker scored his 54th goal for his country breaking Rooney’s 53 goals record.
In the video call, Sunak praised him for the contributions he made to the success of the Three Lions and how much his team members respect him.
Also, he asked about the Lionesses,
which is the England women’s team that won a title last year.
Kane claimed he has not seen them since the last World Cup.
The Prime minister also teased
the England striker on having an eye on breaking Alan Shearer 260 goals record in the Premier League.
Kane replied that he is hoping to break that record.
The striker has scored 204 goals in the
Premier League and is just 56 goals behind Shearer.
Kane is still 29 years and is capable of ending Shearer record in the long run.
He is far from retirement and if he keeps up the momentum he will be regarded as the greatest player of all time in the Premier League in terms of total goals scored.
Tom Brady Congratulates Harry Kane
NFL legend Tom Brady also sent a video to Harry Kane to congratulate the England striker for breaking Rooney’s record, weeks after becoming Tottenham’s all-time top scorer.
Brady congratulated his friend Kane for breaking a second record in a year with a heartwarming message.
England’s Twitter account showed when Kane received the message from the NFL GOAT.
The retired American football player stated that breaking such a record, which had stood for eight years, is a great accomplishment.
Brady went ahead to hail Kane for his accomplishments for his club and country.
He believes that there are many more goals to come going forward.
Kane seems to be happy receiving congratulatory messages from a legend in the sporting industry.
Kane stated that Brady is the greatest of all time and has been an inspiration for him since he was 17 or 18 years old.
When he was on loan at Norwich and Leicester City, Kane was having a bad time, but he came across Brady’s video on YouTube about how people doubted him when he was young.
Brady never let that weigh him down; he kept on working hard and was able to silence his doubters before his retirement.
The video gave Kane a sense of self-belief that he could achieve the greatest things in life.
Both Kane and Brady had been friends for years.
However, speculation surrounds the future of Kane at Tottenham.
The striker wants to win silverware, and moving away from Tottenham may be the best choice for him.
In addition, Tottenham owner Daniel Levy wants to give the striker a new deal but the player is reportedly adamant to sign.
What do you think about Harry Kane breaking records? What could happen to his legacy when he retires from football?
