Liverpool goalkeeper, Alisson Becker has won the Premier League Save of the Month award for August 2023.
Becker is no new name to the Premier League best save is the month award. He has been nominated on several occasions for the award but has failed to win it.
Alisson Becker overcame Alphonse Areola (West Ham United), Mark Flekken (Brentford), Jose Sa (Wolverhampton Wanderers), Jordan Pickford (Everton) and Guglielmo Vicario (Tottenham Hotspur) to win the vote for Save of the Month
He was awarded the prize for his impressive stop from a Miguel Almiron shot in Liverpool’s 2-1 victory over Newcastle United on August 27.
Almiron hit a powerful volley from just outside the box, but Alisson made a quick reaction save to keep the ball out of the top corner. He then got back to his feet to scoop away the rebound, preventing Newcastle from taking a 2-0 lead.
Alisson’s save was praised by pundits and fans alike, and it was a key moment in the match. Liverpool went on to win the game 2-1, despite playing with 10 men for the final 25 minutes.
This is the first time that Alisson has won the Premier League Save of the Month award. He is one of the best goalkeepers in the world, and this save is a further testament to his quality.
