After two years in charge of Torino, boss Walter Mazzari has left the club on mutual consent. The Serie A side has announced Moreno Longo as Mazzarri’s replacement. Torino is currently 12th place in Serie A and are 11 points above the relegation zone.

Torino’s last three games are said to be what led to the club parting ways with the now-former boss Mazzarri. The last three games saw AC Milan beat Torino 4-2, an embarrassing thrashing at the hands of Atalanta with 7 goals to none for Torino, and over the weekend’s defeat to lower club Leece, in a shocking 4-0 defeat. Back in August, Torino’s Europa League journey was ended by Wolves when the lost 5-3 on aggregate.

A club statement read: “The President Urbano Cairo and the coach Walter Mazzarri, after an in-depth analysis on the set of situations that have now arisen, shared the decision to end the professional relationship early.

“The club wishes to thank the coach and all of his staff for the commitment, fairness, and professionalism shown in these last two years.”

Moreno Longo who formerly played for Torino will step in immediately, following for straight defeat in all competitions. This will be Longo’s second material position as he formerly managed Frosinone in Serie A.

Marrazzi is said to have a far worse season than the previous one. Last season he led Torino to a seventh-placed finish. Before managing Torino he also managed Premier League side, Watford, during the 2016/17 season. The former Watford boss was sacked from Watford after finishing 17th place. Watford went ahead to replace Marrazzi with Marco Silva, before he joined Torino in January 2018.
