Vinicius Junior Is Real Madrid's New Number 7

Vinicius Junior was awesome for Madrid last season, scoring 23 goals and providing 16 assists in all competitions. He has now been rewarded with the number seven.

The number seven jersey has been worn by many Madrid legend and the last to wear it significantly was Cristiano Ronaldo.

Before Vinicius assumes the iconic number, Madrid have failed to replace or find any player close to what Cristiano Ronaldo did with the number.

Madrid signed Mariano Diaz and Eden Hazard and handed them the jersey but they did nothing spectacular before their contracts were terminated.

Now the question is can the young Brazilian fit into that big shoe that was left by Cristiano Ronaldo?

Real Madrid gave the update with a simple tweet as the Brazilian leaves the number 20 shirt.

Vinicius Junior, 22, was recently named Player of the Season after his influential campaign in which the club won three trophies.

He was influential in the team despite the fact that they failed to win the La Liga title or their customary Champions League trophy.

The Brazilian has been a subject of racist abuses, a disappointing problem in Spanish football that saw Vinicius being sent off against Valencia for hitting Hugo Duro after fans at the Mestalla were singing racist chants against him.

There were rumors that he would leave Real Madrid following the incident with many interested clubs, but Vinicius is not considering an exit.

The 22-year-old, who grew from a newbie to LaLiga superstar, is one of Madrid’s most prized players and they will be desperate to keep him.

Carlo Ancelotti has already improved his squad for next season after signing Jude Bellingham for £113m and reaching an agreement with Rayo Vallecano left-back Fran Garcia.

Ancelotti, 64, has also confirmed that he will be at Real Madrid next season despite the ups and downs at the Bernabeu last season.

Vinicius Junior

Vinícius José Paixão de Oliveira Júnior, also known as Vinícius Júnior or Vini Jr. is a Brazilian footballer who was born on 12 July 2000 and plays as a winger for Real Madrid and the Brazil national team.

The Brazilian is considered one of the best players in the world, and he is known for his speed, strong dribbling abilities, and playmaking skills.

Vinícius was born in São Gonçalo, and began his professional career at Flamengo, where he made his senior debut in 2017, at the age of 16.

Vinícius joined Real Madrid for £38 million, which was a Brazilian record transfer fee for an U-18 player.

Madrid completed the transfer just after his 18th birthday, and Vinícius played his debit match for the club in 2018–19.

Vinicius Junior had already established himself as a vital player in Real Madrid’s squad in his fourth year in Spain, helping the club win the 2021–22 La Liga title and scoring the winning goal in Real Madrid’s 2022 UEFA Champions League final win.
