Vinicius Jr Agrees Long-term Real Madrid Contract Hours After Winning 2023 Ballon d’Or Socrates Award

Vinicius Jr is ready for another long chapter with Real Madrid as he has agreed a new long-term contract with Real Madrid hours after winning 2023 Ballon d’Or Socrates Award.

The 23-year-old is already a frontline forward key to Carlo Ancelotti’s squad hence the contract renewal did not come as a surprise.

Despite bouts of tensed moments with crops of racist fans in Laliga matches, Vinicius Jr was set to commit to a long-term deal with the Los Blancos. His new deal with the club will be welcomed by Real Madrid fans, who have seen the 23-year-old command a searing influence in the squad since joining in 2017.

Real Madrid confirmed in a club statement the youngster has agreed to a four year deal till 2027.

“Real Madrid C. F. and Vini Jr. have reached an agreement to extend the player’s contract, linking him to the club until 30 June 2027.”

Vinicius Jr joined Real Madrid from Brazilian club Flamengo in 2017 at the age of 16. He has made over 235 games for Los Blancos, scoring 62 goals. He has won Champions League, LaLiga, Copa Del Rey, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup with the team.

His new deal is coming just hours after he clinched 2023 Ballon d’Or Socrates Award for his humanitarian works and activism against racism. With countless incident of racial abuse targeted on him, Vinicius has been a strong advocate for equality and social justice and has always spoken expressly against racism.

He established a training institute in Brazil, ‘Instituto Vini Jr’, to educate young Brazilians on humanist values and core skills to counter racial discrimination. Vinicius Jr solder his humanitarian endeavor to his professional career. It is on the ground of which he was awarded the Socrates Award.

The Real Madrid forward will be hoping for an another four exciting years of football with Real Madrid following the new agreement.
