Vincent Kompany has reportedly been handed a staggering salary package at Bayern Munich – an amount that is significantly higher than that of former gaffer Julian Nagelsmann.
Kompany will understandably earn £2.6 million more than Nagelsmann, having been unveiled as manager on Thursday, May 30, 2024.
Vincent Kompany is replacing Thomas Tuchel at Bayern Munich after it was announced that the German would be exiting the club at the end of the 2023/24 campaign.
Kompany guided Burnley to the top flight, securing promotion to the Premier League in the 2022/23 season.
However, his side couldn’t meet the standards of the top division and they ultimately got relegated in the recently concluded term.
Following the Clarets dismal display in the top tier, Vincent Kompany’s future was thrown in limbo, as many were keen to see whether Burnley would continue with the Belgian as manager.
Shockingly, Bayern Munich made the move and secured his services, apparently beating other clubs to the former Manchester City’s man signature.
Speaking during his first presser after he was announced as boss of the Bavarian giants, Kompany said:
“You mentioned one club but just so you understand how am – I’m a very private person – I was actually quite fortunate to have a lot of interest from a number of other clubs as well.
“But I never went looking for anything. I wasn’t interested in anything. I was happy to meet people and I met good people.”
Reports indicate that Bayern Munich have held talks with Burnley director Alan Pace over a compensation package after snapping up their gaffer.
It is believed that the Bundesliga giants will part with about £10.2 million as compensation to the Clarets.
Vincent Kompany Salary At Bayern Munich
Vincent Kompany will also be paid a massive salary, more than ex-boss Julian Nagelsmann, who currently manages the national team of Germany.
According to Sky Germany reporter Florian Plattenberg Bayern Munich “dug deep into their pockets for Kompany”.
He added that they are expected to pay him between “£5.97m and £7.67m (€7m-€9m) gross per year” with the inclusion of add-ons.
Based on the journalist, that will see Kompany earn nearly the same figure as Tuchel, who was pocketing home £ 7.67m per year plus add-ons.
Vincent Kompany’s salary will also be more than the amount Julian Nagelsmann and Barcelona manager Hansi Flick earned during their time as manager of the Bavaria-based club.
The German journalist also shared that Nagelsman and Flick were both earning an annual salary of about £5.11m with the inclusion of bonuses.
Meanwhile, Kompany will be aiming to galvanize Bayern Munich towards success, with both parties aiming to reach magnificent heights in the 2024/25 season.
The Allianz Arena side endured a torrid campaign, ending the 2023/24 season trophyless, which obviously saw the end of their 11-year consecutive run of winning the German Bundesliga.
Bayern Munich were also knocked out of the Champions League in the semi-finals in a dramatic manner.
Their hunt for a successor to Thomas Tuchel saw them go to several managers, with many of the managers they courted, turning down the opportunity to coach the German side.
Vincent Kompany’s sides in his short stint as manager thus far have often played free-flowing attacking football, with the teams he has managed having an identity similar to that of Pep Guardiola’s sides.
Kompany played under the Spaniard during his time at Manchester City, between 2016 and 2019.
The former Manchester City player turned coach, Vincent Kompany went from managing a EPL team, the team was relegated and now he will be earning a huge salary from the Bayern Munich’s HR department. What a big move. He coached Burnley, they got relegated and now he is in charge of on of the biggest clubs in Germany.
