Villarreal have made their second signing of the summer, further bolstering their midfield with the acquisition of Spanish midfielder Santi Comesana.

The 26-year-old Comesana has successfully joined the Yellow Submarine on a free transfer from Rayo Vallecano.

He has signed a four-year contract with the club joining Denis Suarez’s side as a new recruit.

Santi Comesana departed from Vallecas after refusing to renew his contract with Rayo Vallecano.

Comesana made the move to Rayo from Coruxo in 2016 and has consistently been a key player for Los Franjirrojos since his second season with the team.

He has made a significant impact in La Liga with Rayo, emerging as one of the standout players under the guidance of Andoni Iraola.

His standout attributes include his ability to bring the ball out, switch play, and break up attacks.

The Spaniard demonstrates excellent positioning skills, allowing him to effectively identify open spaces on the pitch and make accurate passes at the opportune time.

It will be intriguing to observe how well he will adjust to life under Quique Setien, a manager known for his preference to break down the opposition through extended possessions.

However, Comesana is likely to quickly adapt to Villarreal’s style following his feat under former Rayo Vallecano manager Andoni Iraola.
