Victor Osimhen’s injury during the Galatasaray 2024-25 Super Lig match against Kasimpasa sparked concerns among football fans.
The Nigeria international finally broke his duck after a three-match barren run with the Super Lig champions.
Regarded as one of the finest forwards in Europe, Osimhen joined Galatasaray in the final hours of the 2024 summer transfer window after he failed to secure a move to Chelsea in the Premier League and Al-Ahli in Saudi Arabia.
However, the Turkish transfer window was still open to accommodate the prolific striker who was already axed out from the Napoli squad.
His arrival in the Turkish top flight was met with a warm and heroic reception by Turkish football fans, especially folks from the Galatasaray extraction.
With three matches gone, Osimhen was yet to live up to the bidding. Nonetheless, he was optimistic about breaking the deadlock and he finally did it in style.
Against Kasimpasa, the reigning CAF Footballer of the Year scored a quick-fire brace to fire Galatasaray into the lead.
He netted in the 20th and 28th minutes with his attacking partner Mauro Icardi making it 3-0 before the break.

However, Osimhen’s terrific performance was marred by his injury. In the 45th minute. He plunged to the ground signaling to be subbed off due to an apparent ankle issue.
Galatasaray head coach Okan Buruk was forced to sub off the player at halftime with Dries Mertens coming on. Unfortunately, Galatasaray’s gains in the match were reversed in the second half after Osimhen was whisked off. Kasimpasa scored three times in the second 45 to peg the league leaders to a dramatic 3-3 draw.

Galatasaray stumbled in the Super Lig title race after surrendering two points in the game but attention shifted more to the wellbeing of Victor Osimhen due to the injury scare.
Speaking after the game, Osimhen confirmed that he was the one who informed the coach about the knock but it was nothing serious.
“My injury is not serious. I felt discomfort and told Okan Buruk. That’s why I left the game,” he told BeIN Sports
While the 25-year-old downplayed the impact of the injury, close sources reveal he felt a slight pain during the match and is expected to undergo evaluation in the coming days to determine the severity of the blow.

Victor Osimhen’s injury raised concerns not only for how it occurred but the player’s injury history as well. According to Transfermarkt, Osimhen has been sidelined 19 times throughout his career. He has missed a total of 85 games. His most recent injury before the latest blow was in the 2023-24 season at Napoli. It was a muscle injury that sidelined him for 38 days and saw him miss four matches.
While the footballer has confirmed the latest blow is a slight knock, further updates are still awaited. Meanwhile, it is hoped he will recover soon and possibly return to action against Latvian club RFS on Thursday, October 3, 2024, in the 2024-25 Europa League matchday two clash.
Osimhen has now scored two goals and provided two assists in his three matches for Galatasaray. He will hope to continue on his prolific start to life in the Turkish top flight.
He is on loan till the end of the season but there is a triggerable break clause that could allow him leave in January 2025 to another club.
