Victor Osimhen is reportedly set to take possible legal action against his club side Napoli following a post on their TikTok platform which mocked the Nigerian striker.
According to the former LOSC Lille striker’s agent Roberto Calendar on Tuesday, 26th of September said he has the right to take legal action against the club.
What has happened between Victor Osimhen and Napoli?
The Nigeria red-hot striker was at the center of mockery over his loss penalty in the 72nd minute of play against Bologna on Sunday, 24th of September which led to a confrontation with the club manager Rudi Garcia after the coach subbed him off before the end of the match.
The U-17 World Cup winner was not excited by Rudi Garcia’s aftermath as he was captured on camera voicing his frustration toward the head coach.
Napoli came out dropping two points following their goalless draw as they currently sit in 7th position in the Serie A table.
After the game, the recent Serie A champions went ahead to post a video on their TikTok page making jest of the striker which they later deleted.
The viral video centered on an occurrence in the club’s goalless draw on Sunday, in which Victor Osimhen ruined the opportunity to secure a victory for the team from the penalty spot.
That demonstrated to be the match-descriptive period and was an unusual miss from the 24-year-old striker who had scored three goals in his first five games so far this season.
The club’s particular video was directed to Osimhen bidding for the spot kick using some weird and rather worrisome speed-up voice which seems to have no context other than to make mockery of the striker for his attempts to convince the decision to be given.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Roberto Calenda said: “What happened today on Napoli’s official profile on the TikTok platform is not acceptable”.
“A video mocking Victor was first made public and then, but now belatedly, deleted”.
“A serious fact that causes very serious damage to the player and adds to the treatment that the boy (Victor Osimhen) is suffering in the last period between media trials and fake news”.
He added; “We reserve the right to take legal action and any useful initiative to protect Victor”.
Victor Osimhen fired the club to break a 33-year trophy drought after his outstanding performance last season in which he scored 31 goals across all competitions.
What’s next?
It remains to be seen if Osimhen’s agent will truly sue Napoli over the TikTok video they posted, however, if that happens, it might break the relationship between the club and the 24-year-old striker which will eventually lead to the player looking for a new pasture.
On the other hand, Napoli will lock horns against Udinese in the Italian Serie A on Wednesday, 27th of September, it remains to be seen if the striker will be included in the team’s starting lineup later today.
