Victor Osimhen on Newcastle Radar as Eddie Howe’s side have “concrete” interest in signing the Nigeria international, according to Calciomercato (via Sport Witness), and if a substantial bid comes in for him, Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis would be willing to come to the table.
While Callum Wilson has proved why Newcastle wanted to sign him from Bournemouth a few of seasons ago, his injury problems haven’t prevented him from playing for the Magpies week in and week out.
Howe would be receiving an exceptional goal-scorer in the form of Osimhen, who has established himself at the greatest level with Napoli, both in Serie A and in European play.

He scored nine goals in just 16 appearances for the Italian giants this season, including four in just three Europa League group stage games – two of which came away from home against Leicester to earn his club a point.
And, according to Whoscored, Osimhen appears to be a lot more complete striker than Wilson, averaging significantly more shots, critical passes, and dribbles per game this season, while his average match rating well outstrips Wilson’s.
He made an immediate impact on his coaches when he first joined Bundesliga club Wolfsburg, with then-manager Andries Jonker stating, “He has big promise in him.” He’s ambitious, quick, and unexpected, and if he keeps his focus, he’ll be a star in the future.”
The way former Manchester United player and Nigeria colleague Odion Ighalo spoke about Osimhen may be the most telling indicator of why he could be the ideal signing for Newcastle.
“He’s the future, he’ll do so well in football,” he remarked. I admire him because he is down to earth, hardworking, has a bright future, and possesses the mentality of a winner. He has the heart of a lion. I adore him, and all I ask is that he continuing working as hard as he is, because he’s going to break a lot of records in Europe and Nigeria.”
With the Magpies battling to avoid relegation from the Premier League this season, having someone with Osimhen’s mindset on board will be extremely beneficial.
