Victor Osimhen might return to football earlier than expected as he has taken to his Instagram page to share pictures showing when he was involved in an individual training.

The pictures were the first set of the footballer’s image released weeks after undergoing surgery to treat fractured eye socket and cheekbone.

Victor Osimhen sustained the fractured eye socket and cheekbone on November 21, 2021, during a Seria A game between Napoli and Inter Milan.

During the league game which ended 3-2 in favor of Inter Milan, the 22-year-old Nigerian striker was involved in a clash of heads with Inter Milan‘s Skriniar.

The clash happened when the players were competing for Napoli’s Hirving Lozano cross in Inter’s eighteen-yard box towards the hour mark of the game.

Victor Osimhen came out of the challenge so badly that he had to be taken to the hospital and was subsequently operated upon.

Initially, it was reported that the injury would keep Osimhen out of football for at least 8 weeks which meant that the football star might not be available for the Super Eagles of Nigeria ahead of the forthcoming Africa Cup of Nations.

The biggest Africa football tournament is scheduled to kick off on January 9, 2022, and Victor Osimhen who has scored 10 goals in 18 appearances for Nigeria’s national team, is expected to lead the country’s attack in the tournament.

Napoli is also missing the services of Victor Osimhen who has been one of their best players so far this season. The Nigerian international has scored 9 goals and provided 2 assists in 14 games for the Italian side.

But it seems both Napoli and the Super Eagles of Nigeria might not have to wait for too long before Victor Osimhen would return to action.

In his Instagram post on Wednesday, the football star appreciated God and those who reached out to him since he sustained the injury.

“Thankful To GOD Almighty, he wrote on Instagram on Wednesday. “I Sincerely Appreciate Those Who Reached Out To Me, God Bless You And Yours🙏🏽No Time To Dwell On Past Transgressions, Looking Forward To The Greater Things Ahead💯God Is The Greatest🙌🏽We Move @officialsscnapoli.”

Ahead of Napoli vs Leicester City Europa League game scheduled to kick off later today, December 9, the coach of Napoli Luciano Spalletti confirmed that Osimhen might return to full fitness earlier than expected.

“It will depend on the stresses he will have day after day,” Spalletti said in a press conference, via Football Italia. “We will see in the gym how he will react and based on what we will understand.

“We are very confident, knowing the lad. He is one who gives the willingness to shorten a few days, everything possible will be done.”
