Nigerian International and Napoli forward Victor Osimhen has made history after scoring a brace for his side during their Italian Serie A football match against Spezia on February 5.
The Super Eagles glittering striker amazed everyone at the Alberto-Picco stadium in La Spezia on Sunday as he continued with his hot form in Sunday’s Serie A clash.
The victory has extended Luciano Spalletti’s side’s advantage to a whopping 16 points at the top of the table.
Napoli’s star Wing wizard Kvaratskhelia opened the scoring from the penalty spot two minutes after the first-half break.
Afterward, the Super Eagles’ renowned striker Victor Osimhen then pounced on a defensive error to extend Napoli’s lead with a second goal in the 68th minute.
And five minutes later, the vibrant Super Eagles’ forward rolled home an effortless finish after Mattia Caldara passed straight to Kvaratskhelia on the margin of his area.
With his brace against Spezia on Sunday, Victor Osimhe joins Luis Vinicio, Edinson Cavani, and Gonzalo Higuaín in becoming the fourth Napoli player to net 16 goals in the first 21 Serie A matches in one season.
Meanwhile, aside from his sensational double, Nigeria international forward melted the hearts of all spectators at Alberto-Picco stadium when a rather wayward strike drifted into the stands and hit a supporter.
Victor Osimhen climbed through the crowd and amidst rival fans to tender an apology to a young lady after unintentionally knocking her with a ball during his warm-up against Spezia.
As he struggled to make his way back to continue his warm-up, the in-form striker was crowded with footage showing even rival fans holding on to him by the arm to have a selfie with him.
The Nigerian International forward Osimhen has been in exceptional goal-scoring form so far since this season began, netting 17 goals from 21 appearances in all competitions.
Victor Osimhen has established himself as a summer transfer target for top league clubs, including PSG, Manchester United, and Chelsea all in the race to sign him.
His transfer fee from Naples was estimated to be around £90 million.
However, the 24-year-old Super Eagles striker’s estimated buy price is likely to surge if he can help Napoli to break their 33 years spell by winning their first league title after the late Diego Maradona led Naples to their last victory in 1990.
Meanwhile, Osimhen’s current deal with Napoli is set to expire in 2025 and talks over a contract renewal have not taken place yet but it seems the club will extend the in-form striker’s deal if he is willing to stay at the club.
And ahead of Napoli’s clash with Spezia on Sunday, the Italian giants were already at the summit of Serie A with 13-point.
The three points carved out in Sunday’s victory have kept Napoli 13 points clear of the chasing pack, topping the league table with 56 points, followed by Inter Milan with 43 points.
