Victor Osimhen picked up an ugly injury on Friday night during their 2-0 win over Angers. The Nigerian international was stretched off in the 80th minute. It is believed he picked up a muscle injury and will undergo a test on Saturday.

Osimhen, who is Lille’s top scorer will undergo  a test on Saturday to determine the level of severity of the injury. Osimhen, who had a good run prior to the injury sustained, opened the score lines with a goal in the 14th minute. This will be his 12th goal of the season as Lille temporarily rises to third place on the Ligue 1 table.

“He (Osimhen) has no broken femur,” Lille boss Christopher Galtier told media outlets after Friday’s game.

“He had to receive treatment off the pitch and I think he has a muscle injury. The length and severity of his injury will be determined after tests are carried out on Saturday” Galtier added.

Lille’s win on Friday was their third consecutive Ligue 1 success. But an injury could mean Osimhen may face a spell on the sidelines making him a doubt for Lille’s clash with second-placed Olympique Marseille on Sunday, February 16.

Back in December, the striker was also stretched off after a 3-0 win over Monaco. It is believed the reason for Osimhen being removed from the game was due to dizziness and some pain. He was immediately rushed to the hospital where he was later released. Prior to him being substituted, he scored Lille’s first goal in the 19th minute thanks to an assist by Jonathan Ikone.

Lille is currently third place in Ligue 1 with 40 points. The same amount of points as fourth place Rennes, who have a game today against Brest and will be looking to finish third place. Paris Saint-Germain is currently on top of the Ligue 1 table with 58 points.
