VAR missed a huge call in favor of Tottenham Hotspur but Jose Mourning’s team still couldn’t win the match. Giovani Lo Celso stomped on  Cesar Azpilicueta’s shin and he got away with it, no card shown.  Jose Mourinho’s return to Stamford Bridge was a tough one as he couldn’t get Tottenham Hotspur to get a win at Chelsea’s home. Tottenham has played against Chelsea both away and at home this season, however, Jose Mourinho lost both games.

Besides the losses, VAR stole the attention by making calls that were unfair to Chelsea. Although Chelsea won the match, Frank Lampard was unhappy with the VAR’s decisions. Tottenham player Giovani Lo Celso intentionally stomped on Chelsea’s player Cesar Azpilicueta’s leg and it was gruesome to watch. The foul could have broken Cesar Azpilicueta’s leg but the VAR officials called it a fair play. The VAR reviewed the call and they did not give any card for the foul.

A lot of football fans were upset with this call and many showed their dissatisfaction with the VAR’s inconsistency. VAR officials also admitted to their inconsistency. The VAR official issued this statement after the match “
They said it was “Human Error”

Azpilicueta said he was surprised the challenge from Lo Celso did not even lead to a yellow card because he felt a “clear stamp on his shin”. “I’m not a player that likes to be on the floor because I’m tough but it was not my fault because it was a clear stamp on my shin, I felt it straight away,” Azpilicueta added after the match.
“I was surprised it was not a red card, not even a yellow card. Obviously, everybody makes mistakes but when you have a lot of replays it could be easier.”

During the post-match conference, Frank Lampard has this to say “It is not good enough, that is two VARs in two games, it is hard to shout about it when you have lost but today everybody saw that,” Lampard said after the match. “It is a red.
“I hate to call for red cards but that is a leg breaker. I am not saying about referees on the spot, VAR is here to clear things up and it is not good enough.”

When asked about his thought on the VAR missed calls, here is what Jose Mourinho said “I hope the noise is the same noise as when VAR kills us,” he said. “Against Liverpool, [Andy] Robertson should get a red card.
“Watford, [Etienne] Capoue should get a red card twice with the same referee. Why didn’t they say when they made a mistake vs. Liverpool?”
