European football governing body, UEFA, has released the latest club rankings and the finalists of last season’s UEFA Champions League are not occupying the top spot.

Recall that last season, Manchester City and Chelsea played in the final of the Champions League and Chelsea emerged the winners. Based on that, most football fans expected that the two Premier League sides should top any positive ranking from UEFA.

However, in the latest club rankings UEFA released this week, Chelsea had no place in the top two despite being UEFA Champions League reigning champions. They however got a spot in the top 5.

This means that Chelsea are yet to accumulate enough points to overtake the clubs above them in the ranking. They can only achieve that by being more consistent in the Champions League and the domestic league.
