European football’s governing body, UEFA, have confirmed the venue for the 2025/26 Champions League final.
UEFA have maintained a tradition of taking the final of the Champions League to designated venues after the thrilling group and knockout games are played at the homes of respective clubs in the competition.
Major UEFA association members like England, Germany, Italy, Spain, and France have hosted the final of the club football fiesta on several occasions.
The 2022/23 final which was won by Manchester City was hosted in Turkey at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul.
The final of the current edition of the competition will be staged at Wembley in England with Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund set to lock horns for the coveted European club trophy.
Bayern Munich’s Allianz Arena in Germany was confirmed as the venue for the final of the 2024/25 edition.
While the venue for the next edition of the competition was confirmed, fingers were crossed on where the final of the following edition – the 2025/26 edition – will be staged
Ahead of the 2023/24 Europa League final clash between Atalanta and Bayer Leverkusen, UEFA officials, sitting in Dublin, where the Europa League final was staged, confirmed the 2026 Champions League final will be played in Budapest, Hungary at the iconic Puskas Arena.
The 67,215-capacity football edifice is no stranger to elite European club competition after it hosted the 2022/23 Europa League final between Roma and Sevilla.
However, it will be the first time the UEFA Champions League final will be played there, and by extension Hungary.
Having decided on venues for the 2025 and 2026 finals, it is understood no decision has been made yet for the 2027 edition. The San Siro in Italy was earmarked to host the event but UEFA want the Italian Football Federation to conclude and execute their renovation plans for the stadium before the decision is made.
